2010 Northern BC Winter Games Begin!
Let the games begin!
Out-of-town participants arrived last night, and this morning, the Northern BC Winter Games get underway in Prince Rupert.
Peewee Hockey leads things off at 6:30 this morning at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, with Prince Rupert playing Fort St John. The 8am game has Stewart taking on Fort Nelson.
Women's hockey starts up at 8:45am.
Archery begins this morning at 8am at the Pentecostal Tabernacle. Badminton starts at 9 at the Civic Centre's Main Gym.
Boys basketball tips off at Charles Hays at 9am, with the host team playing Kitimat-Stikine.
Curling begins at 9am at the Prince Rupert Curling Club.
Futsal starts up at 8am at Conrad Elementary -- Kitimat plays Fraser Lake.
Karate begins at 9am at Pineridge Elementary.
Swimming starts up at 8 with the warm-ups at the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre. Girls Volleyball begins at P-R-S-S at 10am. And wrestling begins at 7:30 this morning at the Lester Centre.
Practical shooting doesn't start til tomorrow morning at the Rod and Gun Club.
The City is hosting over 11-hundred competitors, coaches and officials for the three-day event.
The Official Opening Ceremonies will be tonight at 7pm. The Closing Ceremonies take place Sunday morning at 11:15, with buses departing at noon.
